First Interviews

There's a number of people on here who mention going for interviews. Some seem to be in perpetual interview loop.

My first proper interview was for a night cashier position at a petrol station. I managed to get some vouchers from the jobcentre for my first suit. Wearing a suit was a strange feeling despite having technically worn a suit to school for years.

Anyway, I went along with my record of achievement - thin as it was. Got there early. And was told to fill out a form at the back of the shop. Not in some office but over by the newspaper shelves. Thankfully I had my elegant looking yet meagre RoA to rest on.

Finally, the manager brought me to the office and began asking questions.

"What kind of customers do you think you will see coming here?"

This seemed to me like a strange question. "People who want petrol, diesel, items from the shop and people who need directions.", I said. He seemed satisfied and went on to the next question.

"Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?" What the fuck, I thought, I'm 16 and this joker wants me to plan 5 years ahead.

"I think I could be in your job if I stick at this and work hard."

"When can you start?"

"Immediately."

He thanked me for coming and carried on his life with no further contact with Bob. I'm assuming it was the 'I'll be having your job' comment and so that was never repeated.

Tell us about your first interview, what was it for, any faux pas, what did you learn and did you get the job or not?
