Has there ever been a successful, peaceful secession?

Has anyone allowed one of their states to leave peacefully, and even made sure that it went smooth?

The closest thing I can think of is maybe India, but I'm not convinced the British made it smooth. I'm okay with anything that might sort of fit the description too, just to hear maybe a cool story. And in case you are wondering, yeah I was thinking of Catalonia when I wrote this.
