Need help with cat school upgrade. How do I enhance the basic armor?

I've collected all the diagrams for the enhanced cat school gear, but when I go to any of the smiths the only options I have are the base armor/weapons and the superior. Which requires the enhanced versions of each. What am I missing? how do I enhance the basic armor so I can craft the superior? This is driving me insane, everything I look up only tells you how to find the diagrams. Thanks

edit: Solved. Turns out I'm an idiot. Thanks everyone for your help all the same.
