What is the Nutritional Value of human blood? (I started a nutrition facts label)
I thought of buying a blood bag drink pouch for my Halloween costume late, so I thought I would just make up some tacky labels and toss them on applesauce drink packs. Today I learned that the internet does not have everything, and that includes a readily accessible nutrition facts table or even collected information for human blood.
I did find a fitness site but it appears to use numbers pulled from no where as the ratios seem off given what I could find.
Using the following I made a spreadsheet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_human_blood_components https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reference_Daily_Intake and https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/InteractiveNutritionFactsLabel/pdv.html some others too, but those include unit conversions too
I used the 'whole blood' column from the 'list of blood components' for most of my label (below), but it lacked sodium so I pulled that number from the plasma column. I did approximate middles for ranged values, and converted to mg/L then for the percentages did =((mg/L * 5)/recommended)100. I am 93% sure the rows for fat content are completely incorrect as I just pulled the 'fatty acids' listed in that first link, unit conversion, and did the 'grams9' for 'calories from fat'. I could not find fiber at all, and I would have expected protein to be lower. If I could be sure on the fat and protein, I could use the approximate calories to estimate carbohydrates/fiber. (I pulled calories from http://www.maynardlifeoutdoors.com/2010/09/calories-in-human-blood_15.html (pulled the middle of 450 cal per 500ml, then x10 for the human body having about 5L of blood.))
Here is what I came up with: https://postimg.org/image/745uzf2d4b/
What looks wrong and what other information/sources can you find?
