Escaping the Kraken?

When you get grabbed by the kraken, it gives you that message "Escape the Kraken's Hold!"

Well, how are you supposed to do that? There are lots of times where non prey get sucked up along with their predators (which the kraken can't eat) and it is just chaotic. There should be a way to escape, because not even stunning it works.
