Life is weird, but like, a good weird.
I left my abusive husband almost a year ago. I almost ended up living in a domestic violence shelter. He shamed me for not having more for our children. I avoided getting a lawyer since I didn't work for 8 years and had hardly any job experience. I did eve really get a place. It felt like torture going from being a stay at home mom to working 2 jobs and only having my kids half the time. It was difficult dealing with my ex, too. He blamed me for everything and said I only accused him because I was angry.
I started drinking more. I drank a lot when I didn't have my kids. I controlled my drinking when I had them, but I would binge drink on the weekends. My health began to deteriorate. I was constantly sick. I kept drinking. I made the mistake of going home with friend's friend. Awful things happened to me. I hit my rock bottom.
After a couple of days of letting that night's events set in, I decided I needed help. I only had health insurance for 2 more weeks, so I needed to do it then.
After I went in, my ex filed to have my kids taken away. That was back in mid-June. Shortly after that, I was fired. I had no job and no kids living in a big city with no family because the military sent us there.
Currently, I am still sober. I am still fighting to clear my name and get my children back. I was able to find a new job and I'm pretty proud of myself for it. I still work 2 jobs, and I work my program. This is honestly the most joy that I have felt. I'm not always happy - life isn't easy. I guess I am just more peaceful and content with what I do have.
This is temporary. It won't be this way forever and things can change. Things will continue to improve as long as I don't drink. Life won't get easier, but my reaction and my feelings will get better. It's amazing the changes that have happened in 4 months.
Life is weird. Despite all the awful and scary things, everything is alright. Way less chaotic than my drinking days. I'm ok with this.
Edit: I went to an inpatient facility for 1 week to help me with PTSD and alcoholism. Forgot to mention.
