Looking for Advice about Biol 140 and Poli 100
Hi, first year science student here. I'm looking at my schedule for Term 2 and wanted some advice on if I should take Biol 140 and what Poli 100 is like. I'm registered for both as of right now.
For some background, I got a 5/5 on the Bio AP exam in May, meaning I have credit for Biol 140. Most of what I hear about the course is that it sucks, is a lot of/too much work, isn't worth the effort for the 2 credits and anyone who can skip it, should. However, as I am thinking of going into a bio/chem lab-ish major (biotech, biochem, bio, microbi, ect.), I was wondering if it's worth taking the course for the lab experience, especially since Bio AP labs are pretty much a joke. I'm not one to shy away from work if it's worth the experience, so I'd appreciate any advice.
As for Poli 100, I'm taking it out of pure interest and nothing more as I already have 6 elective credits from my 5 on the French AP exam. However, since the lectures are only Tuesday/Thursday and those are the days I have my Chem 121 lab and Bio 140 lab (if I take it), I'd only be coming on to campus (an hour and a half commute each way) for only one lecture every other week (the lab off weeks). I hear there's a lot of work to the class as well. Basically, I'm just curious to hear if people think it's worth taking or not and what the class is like. If I didn't have my commute, it would be a no brainer since I am pretty interested, but the commute makes me wonder if it's worth it or not.
If I end up dropping both Bio 140 and Poli 100, I'll only have Chem 123, Math 103, and English 112 next term and will be looking into taking a different elective or perhaps a biol 200 level course. I'm taking Chem 121, Bio 112, Physics 101, Math 180 and Scie 113 right now.
Thanks everyone!
