Why does my DSG diesel start revving high only a few seconds after I slam the gas pedal?

Feels weird and delayed, to slam the gas and feel the actual sudden acceleration after like 2 seconds, especially when overtaking others, can get quite bothersome. Is it some sort of limitation, or is it a normal thing for diesels/dct's.Or not, and there is something I can do about this. This might be a simple question, but I just couldn't find the right words to type in google for this. Thanks!
