Build for programming, media editing and a bit of gaming in Germany
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Mostly, programming. I'm currently using a Toshiba SATELLITE Z30-B Notebook, which works well enough for me usually, but struggles as soon as I am working on more than one project at a time. Ideally, my new PC will be able to handle seemless switching between multiple IDEs (I use a few of the Jetbrains ones). I also do the occasional photo or video editing with Adobe CC programs, so these should also run as smooth as possible. I'm not looking for super fast rendering times though. I also occasionally play games, though I'm not a big gamer, so this is not a super important point. If I play, I usually play simulation games like the Anno or SimCity series, so if those could run at at least medium quality, that'd be ace.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
I'm looking to buy somewhere in the 1500-1800 range, excluding costs for eventual extra screens. If there's a really good reason to go over that though, I'm willing to possibly spend more (might need to move the build date a week or two back though).
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
ASAP. Having it ready in about max. 2 weeks would be preferable.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (Tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)
I'm currently using a laptop with two screens and mouse and keyboard, so I need everything but that, for now. I'm looking to run Windows 10, so if that's included, great, but I can also get a free copy from my university so it's not a priority.
I am looking to, in the future, add one more screen to the setup, and maybe replace one of the ones I have, so I'm also very thankful for screen suggestions. And the build should of course be able to handle three screens.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
I'm in Berlin, Germany. I also have an amazon account in the US that I sometimes use, so if something's way cheaper there, that's also good.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
See above.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
I wouldn't know how to do it (safely), so best not!
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
SSD is a must and I'd like at least 500 GB of storage space - I'd also be happy with an SSD that's 250 GB + an extra HDD. Advice on whether to invest in a wifi module or in a Dlan system would also be very helpful. Also if the thing is not super mega loud, that'd be top notch.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I really don't care, as long as it fits under my desk :)
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
See above.
Extra info or particulars:
I'm not overly knowledgable in building a PC from scratch. I've taken apart a few and I'm good at following youtube tutorials, so I'd definitely manage, but I'd also be happy with a pre-build solution, if there is one. I've been looking at the Alternate PC Builder with the different bases that they offer and also the one you build from scratch, but I feel I'm not knowledgable enough about the individual processors etc. that I can really make an informed decision.
Thanks a lot in advance!
