What is the best combination that goes with the Crescent Axe?

Just a thought because I'm trying to find a weapon that would be most "realistic" when it comes to fighting monsters in real life. So far the crescent axe fits the build and I want a set that goes best with it. If that doesn't then what would actually be the ideal melee set?
