Installing Gentoo issue

Hey there, im new here. Im trying to install gentoo but im having issues with booting kernel, it stops and barely see that it has kernel panic. What i want is trying to compile another kernel and selecting it on grub, is there a way a can do it? Im using a USB for livecd, is there someway i can access all the things ive done in chroot and dont have the issue of installing everything from the beginning and just how to do it? I boot up again on the USB? Im sorry if i say stupid obvious things im just a noob trying to learn
