Worst fellow students in nursing school?
Anyone else had some really terrible/terrifying classmates back in school?
I'll start. Back in my first semester of nursing school, right after we finished prereqs, there was this girl who sat behind me who was constantly gossiping about sorority stuff during every lecture. Very audibly. Somehow, I'm not sure how, she made straight A's on literally everything. So while I found her shallow and bitchy, I also respected her mad study skills. Turns out, she was quite the partier too and often spent her nights getting absolutly plastered at frat parties. One day near the end of the semester, our class gets sat down by the dean for special chat. Now, we are given a bag at the beginning of the program with lots of equipment, like catheters and NG tubes- the works, and expected to keep up with it throughout the program to practice our skills. The dean was stopping by to tell us that this equipment was under absolutely NO circumstances to be used on actual humans. We all thought this went without saying, as they get shoved in nasty rubber mannequins all day. However, it turns out our friend got drunk at a party- and attempted to catheterize another female friend of hers with this used -no longer remotely sterile- practice catheter. I'm not entirely sure how this went down, to be honest. Was the other girl passed out? Was she just drunk enough to say "oh yeah, getting catheterized sounds like fun!"?? Needless to say, the faculty didn't find this behavior very professional, and she she was (rather graciously, I thought) allowed to choose between dropping out quietly or getting kicked out publicly. Of course, everyone heard what she did anyway, but at least she got to keep it off the records.
