Would this make you feel more immersed or just sick?
I saw this video in a PubG discussion thread about head bob.
While I agree it needs to be toned down a tad (mostly in the rotational direction) the movement seemed to feel incredibly real when I saw the footage. As the dev says, it looks exactly like real go-pro footage. While I know it wouldn't work for most shooters, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread just from the demo purely through the body language of the playable character. It seems far more emotive than the 'floating camera' approach that most games employ (for obvious reasons).
With all of this in mind, I still felt that a game like Amnesia or Alien: Isolation, where combat takes a backseat to atmosphere and evasion would feel far more panic and terror-inducing with this movement system. The footage, to me, feels like an E3 pre-rendered cinematic. One that promises loads of atmosphere and emotional, (even though in reality, most of the gameplay trailers feel far colder than their pre-rendered counterparts). Just that tiny bit of footage felt more like a playable E3 trailer than anything UBISOFT has shown off in years.
So what are your thoughts? Does this kind of movement feel so sickening that you'd disable it straight away, or did the footage feel 'real' to you as well? Let me know!
