Has anyone else felt disappointed so far with Odyssey? [No Spoilers]

Discussion

(Disclaimer: I'm not making this post to bash the game or its supporters, as I was INSANELY hyped for this game myself, and Super Mario is my all time favorite game series. Also a tag all spoilers zone, because I don't want to ruin the game for people.)

Has anyone else not fallen in love with Odyssey the way it seems the entire press/sub has?

I'm about five hours into the game, on my fifth kingdom, and while the game is polished and beautiful, it's just not clicking with me. People are raving about the exploration and sense of discovery, and how this is a once in a generation game. I feel like I'm missing out, which is disappointing because I was so hyped.

So far, the exploration and discovery people are mentioning to me feels overblown. For instance, in BotW, the world was so huge I really felt exhilarated when I found a shrine or secret. But because the levels in Odyssey are much smaller, I can't help BUT find "secrets" every minute or so, making them much less impactful.

Even when, in one kingdom, I had 2/3rd of all the moons and had collected all the purple coins, I still hadn't felt challenged in finding nearly any of them. Finding a Power Moon because there's glowing sparks from something doesn't feel like I stumbled upon it or was clever, it was literally right in front of my face. Most of the moons so far have felt the same way. I'm not like, Wow I can't believe that moon was there! I'm like, Yep, got that one, what's next?

I think it all can be summed up as one complaint: difficulty. So far it's felt like I've been handed moons for doing the first thing I think of. Even the more traditional level sections have all been really easy so far, even for the non-required moons. It's to the point where I can go on autopilot and still never die.

However, I also know many Mario games have a really easy beginning before they finally hit their peak. Hell, 3D Land didn't start getting great until after you "beat" the game! But no review I've seen has mentioned that for this game.

So to people who are in love with the game, do you think I'm missing something? I really want to love this game, but I feel like I'm forcing myself to play it in hopes that I get that magic moment where it gets amazing (and to be fair, I still think it's good). Was I just overhyped? Do later kingdoms become more challenging and inventive, or perhaps my frame of mind is off and I should just view this game as a tour through beautiful locals? Thanks! ^/rant
