Most Unusual Dumb AI Moves

I still like to occasionally play the AI for fun. As everyone who has played the AI knows, it makes a lot of completely inexplicable dumb moves: headlining strong opponent events, using SALT to grab strong opponent events (Decol as the US), etc, etc, etc.

Today, I encountered a new unusual dumb move that I'd never seen before. Africa was 2-2 on BGs, but the AI controlled like 4 non-BGs and I controlled none. On T7, AR4, the AI decides to coup a 1-stability non-BG that it already controls (2-1) with ... and here's the truly insane part ... the China Card.

It didn't need the mil ops.

It didn't need Cameroon (it already had Nigeria, Angola, and Saharan States) --- and it already controlled it anyway. It would've made more sense to realign me out of Zaire or take South Africa (which was 1-0 for me).

I had Asia control, so the China Card might've been better used in Asia trying to break that. Certainly, it's difficult to think of a worse use for the CC than to coup a 1-stab non-BG that you already control when you already have your mil ops.

The coup served no strategic purpose at all.

For the record, the coup was a great success and the AI went from controlling Cameroon 2-1 to 9-0.

Sadly, probably not the dumbest thing I've seen the AI do, but one of the more creatively dumb moves I've ever seen.

What's the most interesting dumb thing you've seen the AI do?
