Help finding toy from childhood, description in post

I thought I remembered the toy being named "Zoog". But I haven't found anything online by that name that resembles the toy.

What I remember of the toy was that it was bought in the early 90s. It consisted of a set of different oddly shaped parts that were oblong sphereoids of different sizes, shapes, colors and patterns (one I remember distinctly was a cow pattern in a vaguely bean shape, and another was purple). It was all made of hard hollow plastic and each oblong sphereoid had holes in different odd places where you could place connectors. The connectors were squiggly and approximately straw length and width.

I think I remember the art on the box alluded to making weird animal approximations with the toy. I also think I remember my step mother buying it in one of those specialty stores (not a normal toy store).

Any help would be appreciated
