Definition of Weapons
While proofreading my game's rules, I've noticed that my game rules don't have an actual definition for the term 'weapon'.
This was a huge headache for me back in D&D 3.5 where the Psychic Warrior Power, Call Weaponry, turns out to be insanely versatile in light of WotC's glaring oversights.
It is a pretty big deal in the game I'm designing; all my game's classes and skills and talents and so forth have been sacrificed to the philosophy of subtractive game design, making one's equipment the sole means of mechanically differentiating characters.
This is a game where combat is important.
So, can anybody help me brainstorm a good definition for weapons in my game's rules? I have to be able to consistently account for:
-
Manufactured Weapons
-
Natural Weapons
-
Unarmed Strikes
-
Splash Weapons/Bombs
-
Improvised Weapons

It might be useful if I discuss the features of weapons in my game. I've been focusing primarily on manufactured weapons, so far.
Manufactured weapons are equipped to equip slots. Each manufactured weapon has a 'size' (light, medium, heavy, or ultra) that tells you how it is equipped.
Any equip slot that doesn't have a manufactured weapon equipped to it has 'unarmed strike' equipped to it by default.
Manufactured weapons have types (like axe, straight blade, hammer, bow, torch, etc.) A weapon's type determines what maneuver you can use while that weapon is equipped.
Manufactured weapons have levels, and can be upgraded.
Manufactured weapons have one modification slot per level. You can fit weapons with modifications to customize them.
All weapons, manufactured or not, have a reach or range statistic. For manufactured weapons, this depends on the weapon's size.
All weapons, manufactured or not, have an attack bonus statistic. This is +0 by default. For manufactured weapons, this depends on the weapon's size.
Improvised weapons are manufactured weapons with size, type, reach/range, an attack bonus, and a level of 0. Improvised weapons have no modification slots. You can't use the weapon's maneuvers.
