Gaming at 1440p/144hz, Keep the Fury X with my Freesync Monitor or jump to a 1080/ti?

Ok folks, here's my current dilema.

I normally play OW/Dota2/Battlefield 1 and am looking to purchase Wolfenstein and Destiny 2. I have a 1440p/144hz/freesync/IPS Acer monitor and use a Sapphire Fury X to run it.

I'd like to get some more frames out of my build (still using an OC'd 4590k, so maybe that needs upgraded first) for these games to play smoothly but am unsure if its worth trading off freesync for higher raw fps. Personally i don't feel the Vega's are worth upgrading to and would probably switch to a 1080 or 1080ti.

Any thoughts on this?
