What are your honest opinions about our farm system?
IMO, it's underrated. It's far from a top heavy farm, which I think is why you'll find it in the bottom 5 of farm rankings. The thing is, any guy we have who's gonna get people to buy tickets to see their debut (think Hos or Moose), those guys are in Single-A or lower. But for me, there are some guys in our farm who don't have much hype right now, but someday are gonna be key players for us. Nicky Lopez, never gonna make any top 100 prospect lists, might never make an all-star team, but he's gonna be house hold name in KC someday. Same thing is entirely possible for Foster Griffin, Gabriel Cancel, Samir Duenez, Emmanuel Rivera, Meibrys Viloria, Dick Lovelady, Michael Gigliotti. Obvioulsy I'm not saying all of those guys will make it, but some of them will (and I'm leaving out a few guys who fit that mold). I also think that works for our advantage considering we seem to be a team who are able to turn guys like that into some of our better players.
TLDR: No real top of the line guys, but as many future contributors as any team really. And for a team like the Royals who get a lot out of those type of guys (think Bonifacio, Junis, Merrifield of recent), that really works to our advantage. I also like the future corner stones (Pratto, Lee, Matias), who'll come a few years later. Our farm is in a much better spot than any expert would say.
