Is there a way to disable thumbnails for subreddits when browsing on my computer but leave the option itself enabled (so it won't break mobile clients)?

With "compress the link display" option enabled, how does r/Enhancement look like this when other subreddits have these ugly thumbnail next to the posts.

I seem to have a problem where if I enable that option or disable thumbnails, it screws with loading images on both the official reddit client or Apollo on iOS when viewing the main feed. But I want a more compact view when on the computer without any thumbnails viewing (to make browsing at work a little more under the radar)

Ideally I'd like to be able to turn thumbnails off when browsing on my computer but always load them when on mobile, I don't know if this is a restriction/feature of RES or reddit itself?
