Question about making a second character.

So if i make a second character of Another class(dont wanna go same glass even if its faster) and at lvl 20 send my weapons and xur helmet over and equip it. Should i begin with just normal farming coins before i equip and just before i turn in coins i equip the gear? Cuz stuff drops while farming coins so if i wait as long as possible to equip the gear will the rewards get better? Hope you guys understand what i mean and feel Free to give me tips and tricks <3
