For a new player, is it worth giving League play a go, or should I try standard for a bit and get a feel for the game first?

Should I just dive right in to League play and go for it? Or should I hold back a back and dabble around in Standard where I have some items and currency to mess around with?

Also, is SSF something for those with a little more grit and experience. I really like the concept of having to improvise and work with what I’ve got, and if that doesn’t work out, live and learn and on to the next on. I love that the game offers so many different options for play approaches and SSF kinda seems like you gotta forge your own way. I’m not trying to jump in to hardcore anytime soon, but the SSF aspect seems like a fun sort of handicap to play along with. Since I mostly run solo anyway. Thoughts?
