Has anyone beaten Meph solo with no fortune cards?

The first time I beat him I didn't go down so I thought maybe I could do it without fortune cards cause the only ones I was using was reanimated and twist of fate. It turns out twist of fate is really helpful in raising the tailismans and I keep dying there without it any tips?
