any teaching stream professors in the sciences out there, do you have any advice for a PhD student looking to get into teaching university?

I'm a final year Canadian neuroscience PhD student studying in the UK, and I've recently realized I do not wish to pursue a career in research. Has anyone here gone straight into teaching from a PhD? What kind of universities offer teaching-only post docs or any post-phd position (bonus points if in US, that's where I'm looking to move next)? Anyone with experience at a research university being offered a teaching-only post? If you got into teaching right after PhD, how did you do it? How did you find the work compared to being in the lab 90% of the time? Is there anything you wish you'd known about a teaching-only post at a university before you got into it?

Thanks in advance!
