How do I git gud at warlock boosting?

It feels like they have no vertical bonus compared to either other class. I haven't had much time to play warlock yet, but what little I had made it seem like getting around will be a real pain in the ass without the vertical boost other classes get.

It also felt like Blink had a cooldown period - is there some way to monitor this cooldown?
