Don't overtrain
Part of being fat for a long time makes us feel like we don't try hard at sports and whatnot. Being keen to lose weight means that we might push harder than we're meant to.
Here's the progress I made and the point where it went wrong.
I started off going climbing in about feb this year, and went every time I felt like my body fully recovered.
Eventually, this turned into a once every three days routine.
After a while (summer time ish) at the end of the second rest day I started really wanting to get back in and start climbing again. So, after I returned from my holiday, I decided to go every other day.
For a few times, it worked. Then I started going back while I still hurt, and I did a pull up at the office on the stairs without warming up.
Now my left arm hurts whenever I go climbing, and some time afterwards too.
I went to get help yesterday, and he told me to take it a bit easier and to return to my original recovery period; and to try other exercises (chest and shoulder presses , pushups and turkish get up) as a replacement for climbing sessions.
Make sure that while you get regular exercise, scale things back a bit if you're getting constant paint while exercising, and if it feels different to DOMS
