An alternate, creative name for clans, houses, dynasties, kingdoms, countries and empires..

Of course, this is strictly in relation to your world and lore, as opposed to ours. Say there are no kings, or houses in the sense that we know them, or perhaps even dynasties. Perhaps tribalism isn't necessarily as intense a thing as it is in our world. Perhaps humans, or whathaveyou, are far more for the collective, a hive mind, or something alien. How would you go about naming a Great House, an Elder Clan, or perhaps a vast Empire? Do you go out of your way to specialize your lore or would you sooner use what is well known? I try to do a bit of both. I don't want to say, "Ah yes, Ilf-son was of the High Ellla'dumbo-naj of the Landtry that is Ula'tel Por'Falla-alalah-la-elaht!" :p

Catch my drift? What is your happy medium? How do you like to go about it?

In my story I approach things sort of like a book or tome. I consider the Empire a Tome and the its Empress/Emperor a Grand Scribe or Director, the founder the Author or Sage, the Great Houses/Elder Clans to be Chapters, its vassals to be Pages, and the events that slowly unfold the Divine Play or Great Saga.
