[FM7 PC] I need help with understanding the AI.

I don't understand what's going on here.

I'm half way through the single player sort of campaign. Playing on a controller with ABS/Stability and TC turned "on" just "on". The AI is set to one-less than expert. (I cannot remember the name atm). So not easy, but not super difficult (yet). Now, some races I crush it with like 20-30s advantage on a small 5-laps track. And some races I cannot get passed 7th position.

Let me explain. The AI just seems to have a top-speed-limiter, which allows me to just wreck them with crazy advantage on an oval with a nascar truck. On a track with a lot of turns I struggle a lot passing the number 6-7 car. If I change the difficulty of the AI to "one less" it's still the same case. It seems to me that the AI is not fucking subject to the same physics engine as I am.

More on that - I can see clearly, that the AI:

  • breaks later than I

  • breaks for a shorter period of time

  • breaks more efficiently.

So I mash the fucking break to the limit, ABS is blinking and all, and the AI still outbreakes me by A LOT.

In addition, I have the "racing lines" set to "turns only" and those seem to be veeeery inconsistent, especially on tighter turns, when there's no way I can make the run if I only break within "the red zone".

btw, I'e been playing AC, pC and GT before, it's not my first racing game.

My best conclusion is: AI has only top-speed-limitation, that changes with the difficulty level and AI is not a subject of the physics engine as the player.

Give me some tips, or insights if you have any... It's sort of frustrating.
