[U/Ni] My Story Chapter 1
As preteens we pretty much began our “experiment” phase. Seeing what we could get away with and what not. Without going into too much detail. I can say it was pretty fun and it was something I always looked forward too. The idea of sneaking away from our family and having this time all to ourselves. A secret that we shared with only each other. I still remember times when we would spend the night at my sisters house and my niece and I would be up late. How she would sneak in a kiss or two while my sister and her husband were just feet away from us. This kept on for years until one day my brother ended up getting a job out of state and moved his whole family to start his new career. We didn’t see each other for a long while after that. We were still able to keep in touch thankfully. We would chat over yahoo messenger and tell each other all the things going on in our lives. I think that was a huge factor in strengthening our bond over the years. We became each other’s shoulder to cry on. We would tell each other everything.
Fast forward a few years. At this point I was 18 years old. Fresh out of high school and working part time at a local car dealership. I decided to go into a trade school for AC repair and was doing pretty ok for myself. I had a studio apartment to call my own and my own little beat up POS Ford Ranger. But hey I was happy. One evening I was out with my parents and my mother ends up telling me that my niece is going to be in town for few days touring the local university. Immediately I get excited. I mean this is practically my best friend. Someone I haven’t seen in years. My father tells me that my brother and his wife were asking when I had some free time because obviously “She wants to see you.” Lucky for me I had a day off around their visit and we plan to meet for lunch then.
The night of the lunch date I couldn’t sleep at all. My excitement definitely got the better of me and it must of showed when the actual meal took place. My father kept commenting that I looked like I was going to pass out from anticipation.( I honestly felt that I could.) I can’t even begin to describe how I felt when she walked in though. When I first saw her I didn’t even recognize her. She was amazingly gorgeous. Long silky light brown hair that ended just shy of her butt. Very girly and dainty looking. She was wearing a light blue floral sun dress and her skin was as if it was kissed by the sun just enough for her to have this glow to her. Her smile was perfect(no more braces) and she lit up as soon as she saw me. I couldn’t help but just stand there like an idiot...
“So, do I get a hug?” “Or do we not do that anymore?” Hearing her speak knocked me out of whatever trance I was in. “Oh yeah, right.” I went in to hug her and as we embraced she held on to me as tightly as she could. So much that I could feel her soft breasts pressed up against me. Her scent was intoxicating. As we hugged I felt so happy, but at the same time so damn confused. Let’s not forget the fact that this just isn’t my best friend. This is my niece! Why am I feeling this way? A minute ago I was excited and anxious to see her, but now I’m anxious for a whole different reason.
As the moment passes we all sit down and enjoy our meal. The conversation goes from the whole group reminiscing of days passed to two separate conversations. With my niece and I having our own. “Are you excited that I might be moving back home?” She asks. I tell her that it would be nice to have her back around since she’s be away for the past 4 years. As I speak with her my mind is still racing over how amazingly beautiful she is. I mean yeah she would send me photos all the time of her and her friends, but honestly they didn’t compare to her sitting right in front of me. I can’t believe this is the same girl I use to watch Saturday morning cartoons with. The same girl that we would pretend to be husband and wife in a little play house when she would convince me to not play the role of the family dog.(I was a weird child.) Thinking about all of that I couldn’t help but wonder if she remembered all the things we use to do. We never really spoke about it after she moved and honestly I never really thought about it myself until she was in front of me again. If she did remember, did she not bring it up because she was trying to forget? If I wanted to know, how would I even bring it up? The way I saw it, were both adults now. It’s probably best not to dwell on things like that.
As lunch ended my father fit the bill and we all got up to leave. At some point of the meal my family made the decision for me that while they were in town they were going to visit my apartment sometime during the week. I had asked them to at least give me a heads up before they did.(So I can get rid of the weed smell) As we were leaving my sister in law tells us that she need to use the restroom. So as my family leaves for the parking lot my niece and I elect to wait on her to finish her thing.
So there I am standing there with my niece our first time alone since forever. A moment that triggers more flashbacks of our times as kids I’m almost in my own world at this point. All of a sudden my niece checks to see if the coast is clear and then kisses me square on the lips. Not a peck. A full on kiss. In the middle of a packed restaurant. I was so dumbfounded that I can’t even remember what it felt like. Only the wave of shock that came over me. When our lips finally separate she looks up at me and smiles her beautiful smile. I guess I had a dumbass look on my face, because all she says afterwards is, “Oh, do we not do that anymore?” (To be continued...)
