Cause sc2 is a 7-year old game , lawbreakers is barely 3 months , but imo after the Q4 they ll announce that the game is going to be f2p
SC2 has 1-2 million monthly users currently, they're only going F2P to increase playerbase, Legacy of the Void is the latest expansion and it is almost 2 years old, everyone that wanted to get in and wanted to pay has likely already gotten in, so going F2P is a good strategy to expand the playerbase. Completely different situation from LawBreakers.
SC2 is a completely different game, its not even close to the same genre. Also its by a massive company, Blizzard, that gets PLENTY of profit from other games. The point of going f2p for them is to get more customers for their other games as well.
That has no merit to be compared to LB
wc3 still not f2p

Might as well mention TF2 while youre at it lol
SC2's MP can easily be populated with players of mismatching skills, with teammates completing each others' weaknesses. In LB, weak teammates are a handicap only great players can tolerate.
Blizzard also had plans beyond the monetary gains from selling the games. It wants SC2 to dethrone SC1 as an esport so it can insert itself in the tournament scene and monetize it. Keeping the MP component alone free wasnt going to do it for anyone but competitive players, you gotta give the rest a non-MP training mode and that's what campaign is.
On a similar note, instead of having multiple F2P weekends, why not just go F2P already? Recently, its been less than 50 players on steam per day. The weekends spike up sure, but on steamcharts you can see the playercount rise up JUST for the weekend. Then back to nothing the day after.
F2P weekends drag in a few people, but not nearly enough. There's nothing i want more than to see this game thrive, but BKP and Nexon have made some horrible choices, and it shows
Because it's too late
