Cleaning nasty-ass meth
Okay, so I know this one tweaker who is constantly making new glass pipes because his old ones will get gross, so he goes through all his good-quality stuff first, over the course of about 15 pipes, then rinses them all out and ends up with this really gross residue rinse, that he smokes directly.
There's a better way! Okay, first of all, do you rinse your stuff out with water or alcohol? Use distilled water! Water dissolves methamphetamine great, but leaves that greasy brown shit behind. Alcohol dissolves away both. But that greasy brown shit is bad news. You don't want it. Once all your shit is dissolved in water, wedge a cotton ball into a funnel, and filter the liquid through it. Add some water after it to rinse anything off the cotton. You'll notice that the black-brown water has become clear or pale yellow at the worst. Magic, huh?
If you're patient, you can just let the water evaporate, but we both know you aren't. So if you have 99% isopropanol, mix that with it, pour it in a bowl and hit that shit with a hairdryer. See, water loves meth as much as you do, and wants to stay dissolving it. But isopropyl alcohol is like water's girlfriend that doesn't much care for it herself, and is trying to pull water away. And I guess the hair dryer is like a gun, with you saying "get the fuck away from my meth, you mooch or I'll shoot you" so eventually the water gets the lesson from both sides and leaves. If you were less than amused by this analogy, isopropanol forms an 85% azeotrope with water, which can counteract the hygroscopic nature of amine hydrochloride salts.
Sometimes, you get random smelly shit in meth though, and you can rinse that out with acetone. Acetone will dissolve a small amount of meth, because it evaporates and gets cold, then water will condense on it and mix with it. So do it really fast. Also, save the acetone in something else where it can evaporate easily. After you've done it a lot, you'll have this greasy brown crap in the bottom with a few visible crystals, usually.
Now, how good is your memory? Remember what I was saying about greasy brown crap before? It doesn't dissolve in water! So rinse that acetone residue with water, and figure out what to do with the water solution. Don't even think about using that greasy brown crap for anything. If it doesn't dissolve in water, I assure you, it ain't meth.
Those cleaning methods will take care of every contaminant I know of except what the Mexican cartels have been putting in their shards lately. I'm pretty sure it's n-isopropylbenzylamine, but I haven't been able to do the proper research to figure it out for sure. Research is expensive. But if someone wants to fund some harm-reduction scientific research, there's a cookbook in it for them. The research grant would need to be in bitcoins though. See my profile.
If you're not sure, here are some solvents that will not dissolve methamphetamine, but will dissolve other things:
Acetone
Ethyl acetate
Diethyl ether
Hexane (or heptane or any "-ane")
Acetonitrile
Toluene/xylene (these evaporate slowly though)
Nitromethane
Kerosene
Gasoline
These solvents are in the order of how recommended they are for using them to clean methamphetamine, from "good" to "death wish".
tl;dr: dissolve in water then filter through cotton to remove most of the shit that gets in glass pieces. Acetone can clean a lot off of shards when you recrystallize them, but save it and do a water extraction from the residue when it dries up.
