Steve Rucchin Shout Out!

Many tears were shed between Paul and Teemu’s speeches tonight. 😭😭😭

#9 gotta be going to the rafters this season right? ...right?

I imagine if they do it, they'll want to market the heck out of it, like they did with Teemu. Maybe Sunday is a good way to gauge how Paul is received/reacts to being back in the spotlight.

They already know how he's received, last year's playoff run showed that. It won't happen until next year, unless they pull a SURPRISE banner raising as part of an elaborate rouse.

This thought actually crossed my mind today. If they do a surprise number retirement I'll lose my god damn mind.

The organization has a history of said "surprises". They attempted to surprise the league with the return of the mighty. It would not surprise me to see that go down, but I'd also be somewhat pissed if they did as He deserves the pomp and circumstance.

that's what im thinking. they gotta raise a HoF banner or something right? that would be nice to see

I'm not crying I swear

Rooooooooooooooooooooch!

I had felt more forgiving leading up to the HoF and the upcoming banner raising, but now I hope the fans give him a rude welcome. Don't let this weasel speak a word please. Doubt it will happen though, most Ducks fans are too disney.

If you cant put everything in the past after this, idk how I feel about a fellow Duck fan then. Yeah we were bitter when it happened, but the guy literally gave half his life for us. We might not have our cup if it wasn't for him. We might have never had Selanne had we not had Kariya. For the first pick in franchise history we could have ended up a lot worse like other franchises. Paul was the perfect stepping stone and set us up to be a decent franchise. Honestly had it not been for Paul, and the pieces that fell afterwards that all rotated around him, the Ducks might not still be in Anaheim.

I was too young back then.

What did Kariya do to piss off Ducks fans?

1
nocookie4u•

He left right after the 1st cup run after asking for a bunch of money, which possibly lead to the failure in resigning Selanne. Which is part of the reason why he left Anaheim was to go be with Selanne for a cup chance in Colorado.

Oh

So now are we supposed to hate him or do we give him our utmost respect

harpoon_fatties•

While I may agree with some of what you said, you are reeeeeally stretching it here:

Honestly had it not been for Paul, and the pieces that fell afterwards that all rotated around him, the Ducks might not still be in Anaheim.

Do you honestly believe this? Now you're just over romanticizing Kariya.

1

He started the success off the team, and had it not been for the early 2000's success, the team might not have been able to compete with the other California teams for popularity. Yeah, it may be a stretch, but it is a possibility.

It's not Kariya himself, but the fact of an elite all star to be the focal point of a team and he lead us to success.

I hope you get fucking mumps kid.

Shit happens in life and relationships are strained then repaired. People will cheer him for the unbelievable feats he pulled off in that building, not because they're "too Disney". They'll cheer for him because guys like me grew up watching Paul and Teemu embarrass the entire league every other night. They'll cheer for him because he deserves it as captain and the original Duck.

I keep a healthy distance from Perry, but thanks for the kinds words.

Shit happens in life and relationships are strained then repaired. People will cheer him for the unbelievable feats he pulled off in that building~~, not because they're "too Disney"~~. They'll cheer for him because guys like me grew up watching Paul and Teemu embarrass the entire league every other night. and I was one of those people until this speech. Some people hold grudges, some people forgive over time. Sometimes rat-faced bastards reignite old hatreds. God forgives, I don't.
