Timid isn't too bad to outspeed specific threads.

Like the others said, I wouldn't worry about nature/evs for the main game. If anything you might want a bad nature just to make it a bit more challenging.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about IVs/nature while going through the in-game story. You can always breed a better mon post-game, and you can use the Everstone and Destiny Knot to get good IVs and your preferred Nature. (Granted you can use Bottle Caps too, but that's a much more expensive process).
This. You don't even have to SR for female anymore because it's so easy to get a ditto with the right nature.
