iPhone 6s Plus just slowed down tremendously. Long loading times, unresponsiveness, and app crashes

iOS

So I purchased a used 64gb iPhone 6s plus off Swappa last week to replace my iPhone 6 that was on its last leg. When I received the phone it was in great condition with the exception of a scratch on the top left of the screen. I set up the phone only to realize my battery was dying extremely fast. Come to find out the seller had installed iOS 11.2 beta. I proceeded to download the iOS 11.1.2 ipsw and installed it on my phone through my computer after putting my phone into DFU mode. I then restored it through my backup I had made on my computer right before installing 11.1.2.

Everything had been running fine for the past 5 days and the phone has been super quick and snappy. However, today when I started using it I began to experience numerous problems. Apps that used to load instantly like the reddit app, weather underground, facebook messenger, dropbox, and yelp are all taking 10+ seconds to load when they used to load in 3-5 max. Once loaded the apps will sometimes become unresponsive and won't respond to any of my touches on the screen. Apps like FB, Twitter, and Instragram now take 17-20+ seconds to load. My clock app, app store, and apple watch app won't even load and just crash on me.

I've reset my phone 3 times now and it still continues to happen. I've had iPhones for 10 years now and I've never had this happen and I'm afraid I may have gotten screwed on a sale. I thought when I installed 11.1.2 through the ipsw it was a clean install so I shouldn't be having these problems. My possible solutions:

  1. Download the ipsw again, however don't restore from back up and just set up as a brand new iPhone and restore all my apps through iCloud. Sync later to get all my music

  2. Download an older ipsw (like 11.1.1), restore from my computer backup (or just iCloud), and see if that resolves the issue.

  3. Take it into my local iPhone repair store (I live in a small town) and see if there is a hardware problem

Any ideas on what is going on? Thoughts which one of the above I should try or what my next move should be? Thanks in advance!

edit: just tried to go to "notifications" in the settings app and my phone froze for over a minute and then the application crashed

It is highly unlikely this is a hardware issue.

In order of least invasive to most invasive:

Rest all settings.

Restore your phone via iTunes and restore from a back up.

Restore your phone via iTunes and set up as new.

I would say do these in order and go from there.

Ok so I just ran through all these and finally got it to work via your last option + downgrading to iOS 11.1.1. (in case 11.1.2 was the issue)

I downgraded to 11.1.1 on iTunes and then set up as a new iPhone and it was working without any problems. I wanted all my contacts and stuff so I reset and erased all settings and then just loaded my iCloud backup I had on my iPhone 6 from like a week and a half ago.

Everything is good so far. The phone is blazing fast again. I hope it was just a bug and my phone stays this way now

Thanks for the help u/applejuice1984 I really appreciate it!
