Dropmix Deck Creator

Latest update (11/30/2017):

I'm currently running a poll to gather some feedback from people on what features they want to see next. I have some ideas in my head already, but would like to try and prioritize them based on what is most valuable to the collective group. Please head to https://www.sli.do/ and use event code DropmixDeckCreator to access the poll. It is an open poll, so you can get as specific with your answers as necessary. You should also be able to view the results in case you want to +1 something that somebody else mentioned. Looking forward to hearing what everybody thinks.

Older updates:

  • 11/25/2017: Basic filtering functionality is now live! You can reach it by going to the version 2 page (https://dropmix-deck-creator.herokuapp.com/v2). Going forward, this will replace the link below. For now, however, I wanted to separate it as I'm still working on the functionality.

Known bugs:

  • Filtering out too many options will give you an error message. This is due to the way the templates are chosen. I'll try to fix this as soon as possible. Certain filtering combinations will give you an error message. This is due to the way the templates are chosen. I'll fix this when I can. But the main issue has now been resolved, so most normal combinations should work.
  • The Transformers and Baffler cards are not included in the results at the moment. This is because Hasbro has not provided images for those cards. I have a solution to add these back in going forward. However, it will take some time to implement.

At this moment, the functionality is pretty basic. You'll get 4 decks of 15 cards each. Each deck will always have the following:

  • One level 2 white card
  • Either an additional level 2 white card or a level 3 white card
  • One level 2 wildcard
  • One red card for each level (1, 2, and 3)
  • One blue card for each level (1, 2, and 3)
  • One level 2 card and one level 3 card for both yellow and green

From here, you'll have a 50/50 chance of getting one of the following:

-- One level 1 yellow card and one level 1 green card

or

-- An additional level 1 red card and an additional level 1 blue card

(Note: These deck layouts are simply based on the standard playlists that are available today)

From here, the program will use all the available playlists when constructing the decks (except for the Transformers card and the Baffler cards). Therefore, you should see at least 1 card from every playlist and only 3 duplicates. I apologize to those that only have certain playlists, but this was the quickest and easiest way to throw together an initial version. I am working on a number of improvements and new features, so there will be revisions that allow for excluding certain playlists in the future (among other things).

In terms of physically getting each of the cards in these decks, I would recommend sorting your cards by playlist and then having 2 people go through and build the decks (i.e., one person going through half the playlists and another going through the other half). In my own experience, that has been the quickest way to go about it. If you find some other method(s) that work better, please let me know in the comments.

This post will be edited/updated as things change, so feel free to bookmark and/or check back often for additional news. Any questions, comments, or concerns can be left in the comments and I will address them as I have time.

Enjoy!
