Holiday event items are discontinued, why would they break the tradition? That's dumb. Not everything should be available via MTX...

The globe it's na inventory item, not something you can show to others to prove that you were around the year the item was released. You really can't use that as na example, the tradition is intact.

Yeah, it'd be bullshit. I always wanted those items but releasing them for everyone would take away from their rarity and they'd just be some shit tier low quality common items. Rarity matters.
There are so many better looking scythes now for example, but people would still find the original one cooler because of its rarity.

I just disagree with the fact that I won't be able to get what is in my opinion one of the best festive items, just because I didn't complete the event back in 2013. I've been a member for 5+ years non-stop but just didn't play much that Christmas because of IRL scape. Preferably the jumper would be unlocked through playing the game and not through MTX, but at this point i'm desperate and i'm willing to do just about anything to get it.

There are like 3 items per year that are exclusive to people who complete the events, which gives the item some form of rarity. People have been wanting bunny ears/scythe for a decade+ doesn't mean they should get them. I wish I had those items too but giving them away via MTX would make them common and it's just against the tradition of holiday items. Rarity is the only thing that separates these items from MTX items or just any random items you can buy in the GE.
You don't even have an excuse by saying that you didn't play much during that time, it's like a 15 minute event during a 2 week period. If you really cared about holiday items you'd have found the time. And if you never played during that time, too bad, there are a million other items in-game and future holiday items.
All in all, MTX bullshit shouldn't infest holiday items because some people feel entitled to have them. Nor should they be re-released because they promised that they would be discontinued, it'd be unfair to the people who have them as well as being a blatant lie.

My word...I'd be fine with them releasing them for runecoins or something, the people who 'lose out cuz more ppl have it now oh nooooo' got it for free, while the people who missed the events, have to pay a price to obtain an item that does nothing, win win imo

It's obviously not on the same level of rarity, nor did I imply it's iconic, but it's in the same category of holiday items therefore it should have the same rules. Randomly picking items that you think aren't as good as bunny ears and removing them from this category is both idiotic and inconsistent. I could then use the same excuse for bunny ears (I wouldn't), so what's the difference? No because they were released earlier and look better? Lol.
It's not a win-win, the people who got it via the event were told it would be discontinued. Which means that Jagex would have lied. I, and many others, wouldn't have wasted our time on most of these events if they said you could just get it at a later date.

I only completed the event in 2005 partially and as a result I don't have the best looking necklace slot items, the scarves. I regret it deeply, but at least nowadays I can wear the chic scarf which looks good (maybe even better) but lacks the rarity and uniqueness.
I only have myself to blame. I definitely don't want to ruin them for everyone who managed to complete the whole event because I'm not selfish. Besides, if they made them obtainable again, they would lose all the status associated with them, so they would not mean anything anymore.
This is exactly the same scenario as with you and the jumper from 2013.

they've re-released emotes and I'm pretty sure at least some overrides before, I don't see anything wrong with maybe adding them to solomon's at a certain time of the year or making them available through extra challenges during holidays
just because something's tradition doesn't mean it's right to stay on that path forever, especially since the game has moved toward total customizability

It is right to stay on this path, it's a cosmetic item and not game changing. You don't NEED to have these items and 99% of people just want them because they're rare. If the rarity is lost, no one would really give a shit about some common outdated looking items.

I only want it because it looks festive af, and the other festive items are lacklustre to say the least. We're living in an era where fashionscape is of utmost importance, after all.

There's like 100 other festive items that you can get lmao, also that's just an opinion whether they are lackluster or not. I'm not going to have them go back on their word and set a horrible precedent of allowing purposefully discontinued items back into the game because you want to look festive and can't pick out any of the other 100 items.

Because not everything should be accessible via MTX/pay2win, it's retarded. It'd also mean that Jagex blatantly lied when they advertised the rewards as discontinued. It's not about how long it took, it's about the fact that you played back then. Which is why it's cool to see some of the older items even if they don't look impressive.
No one gives a shit if you have some Solomon HD item, if the rarity was taken away from these items they'd just be some low detail common items that no one would give a shit about anymore. It's really not that hard to grasp this simple concept.

To me, the simple concept is that it's all pixels in a game. If I see someone with bunny ears in game, standing next to someone with wolf ears from SS. I don't think anything of it. It doesn't even cross my mind that the bunny ears are old or 'rare'. It doesn't cross my mind that anyone can get the wolf ears.
I think you're overestimating just how much people care that you have that one obscure holiday item from 2007, that collects dust in your POH or diango's cart.
Now, maybe putting the stuff in SS is the wrong way to go about it. I'd be happy instead if they made old holiday items available through the current holiday event every year. Also, it should go without saying, but this should only apply to untradeable items.

I don't like arguing with people who see things as "pixels in a game" and use that to justify screwing people over who got something and encouraging Jagex to break promises made to these players. People invest thousands of hours into this game, it's clearly not "just pixels" to many.
Also, I never wear any holiday items, this is about the principle. Bringing back items advertised as discontinued = blatant lie. There should be a tiny percentage of items that are exclusive and unobtainable, every MMO has this and it's a good concept. Not everything should be buyable or obtainable whenever. It's cosmetic, you don't need it for a better gaming experience, and there's so few of them in-game.

I don't believe holiday items should be re-released, it's not fair to those who procured those those items legitimately when the holiday event was out. If they're going to re-release such items it should be all or none(ie. Scythe Bunny ears ect) otherwise i don't see it as fair, Things that are discontinued shouldn't be available again just because YOU want them, you should've put the time aside years ago if u actually cared about it.

As somebody who has every holiday item since 2005, I would be happy to see others get them too. I prefer the osrs method of unlocking all holiday items from previous years when you do the matching event

I wouldn't want to see this happen at all. Holiday items shouldn't be re-released. As much as I would like to own the jumper (I was on vacation for 2 months and missed the event) it wouldn't be fair to those who already own it. My suggestion is to just add new designs as it's a very popular item.
