Calorie Count Seems Low

Gear Fit2. I used the 'other' option when doing Insanity Max 30 Tabata Strength workout. It read my heart rate, which hit over 190 multiple times during the 30 minute workout (and I definitely felt like I was about to puke toward the end), but at the end it said I had only burned 130 calories. This seems really, really low.

I generally use the watch for monitoring running and it records just slightly high compared to mapmyrun - which I assumed was related to it using heart rate to calculate burn, but now I'm not sure it takes that into account at all.

Should I not be using the 'other' option? Is it just always going to be low for everything except walking/running?

People here said that the calorie count does not actually consider the actual heart rate. It is just a default calorie/min * minutes of workout.

I also have very low calorie measurements with very high intensity workouts so I am inclined to believe the theory despite I don't have any official source.

Which defeats the point of the real time heart rate, and makes this smartwatch a bit dumb.

I noticed a similar issue. Under "Other Workout" their is a setting for Intensity. Mine was set to moderate by default. Since I do HIIT style exercises, I changed it to Vigorous which gives me a higher reading.

With that said, it doesn't seem to account for your actual heart rate while factoring calories burned. I have had workouts of the same length with completely different heart rate charts (steady run for 45 mins vs high intensity intervals for 45 mins) come out to almost the same calories burned.
