Magazine Size Comparison

Was super curious how the new AWP-ish styled Worker 10 dart mags compared to 6 dart Nerf mags in terms of size, and was pleasantly surprised, so I grabbed a bunch of other magazines for comparison as well.
Not that I'd always want to run 10 dart magazines, but if I did these are pretty compact.
Yup the Worker low-profile (comparatively speaking) magazine followers are fantastic. Look at how efficient the Worker 12 mag is compared to the Lightake/Hasbro 12 mag -- the Worker mag is only a tiny bit longer/wider, and it actually takes 14 darts (or 15 if you squash them in).
The Worker 12 mag is basically the epitome of what I want in a Nerf magazine -- it's textured just the right amount for grip without any annoying rough or overly protruding edges, and has the viewing window on the correct side for me as I'm right-handed.
Based on this image, the Worker 10 mag definitely seems like a good aesthetic choice for "sniper"-style springer blasters.
The F10555 15-dart PMAGs have a stock maximum capacity of 16 darts which is great, but they have a tall stock follower (similar to the Hasbro 18 mag) so it's not really viable to squeeze in an extra dart unless you upgrade with a custom low-profile follower. Also, I find the F10555 design is a little too "blocky" and vaguely unpleasant to handle, and the edges protrude enough that they actually stop me from fully inserting the mag into certain blasters such as my Recon MkII because that has an unusual magwell. On the positive side, the F10555 PMAG does have the viewing windows on both sides which is how all mags should be.
The Worker 22 mag is nice, but IMO it is let down by its lack of a clear viewing window to let you see the rough number of darts remaining -- the small slit at the top doesn't count, because you have to remove the magazine from the magwell to be able to see that. I prefer running opaque orange magazines, but because of this flaw I'm currently using the transparent Worker 22s, which unfortunately telegraphs your remaining dart count to your opposition.

Try the smoke ones. That's what all my Workermags are. From a distance it looks fairly opaque, but you can see the rounds inside up close.

My favourite magazines are still the Blasterparts-style "frosting" 15-dart mags you can get from Lightake. They're similar in size to the F1055 pmags but hold 17 darts, are less bulky, and considerably cheaper. No window though, I'm afraid.
Interesting, are you referring to these ones?
I might have to give these a go in future -- the weird slightly off colours (especially the janky orange) put me off them so far. When you say they hold 17 darts, is that when you forcefully squash them in, or do they hold 17 comfortably?
I don't mind a lack of viewing window if the mag is frosted/semi-transparent -- I rather like the Worker 15 hex/honeycomb mag in transparent orange, for example. Opponents have to be closer to be able to see your remaining dart count, so it's not as much of a problem.
Those are the ones. They fit 17 very comfortably.
I only have them in the solid orange colour, which is slightly redder than Nerf Orange but not dramatically so.
Great comparison
Except I forgot to include a ruler lol.
Interesting that the katana mags have orange followers. I thought they'd be black like in the ads
Maybe more affordable to go with all the same color for the molding?
How well do these work I'm new to the hobby in it's current state, homemades and such that use them exclusively is something I want to explore, what does the release latch on or am I gonna have to drill holes in them
The katana mags actually have an adapter for standard sized magwells to allow them to be used. They aren't perfect magazines, but their size really is nice.
I don't really care to use them in a standard magwell as I don't like standard darts
I've been working on a database of all the available mag types we have now, do you think a height column would be a good addition?
That very well could be a good addition for people to have access to.
I really like the buzzbee 20 rounders myself. But also the nerf 18.
I actually don't have any of those, need to get some at some point just to have.
Last I knew, you could order them from Buzz Bee directly, $7/each shipped in the US. Limit 2 though.
Thanks for the heads up :)
Requesting a more informed nerfer to give me a list of these mags, in order from left to right. I...I will give you an upvote?
Hasbro 6, Worker short 10, Lightake 12, Worker 12, Katana, F10555 15, Hasbro 18, Worker 22

took me a second to realise that was the katana mag and not one of the 10 round sticks turned sideways.
Haha, it's that slim width that makes them so appealing!
Missing the rapid red mag, underrated IMO
I made a double 22 Worker mag for my main larp blaster (Rapidstrike). I fired a total of two shots with a different blaster over the whole four day event but it still feels amazing having those huge mags.
The only ones i have shown is 6 and 18 mags
Nothing wrong with that, if you ever consider getting more mags you can use this to help gauge the sizes of the ones you're looking at.
True although i have some that are not shown
I need to see the 10 rounder against the nerf 10 rounder
The Nerf straight 10 is as long as the bottom of the ribs on the 12 mag. So the Worker one is quite a bit shorter, despite the cosmetic angled base.
The Nerf banana 10 is longer than a Nerf 12.
Its funny that there are only 2 real nerf mags:) oh how far we have gone.....
Totally true, love how much 3rd party offerings have influenced the growth of the hobby.
