What are the worst places in Sacramento for home internet access?

What areas have the slowest speeds, for the most money, with no other options?

Avoid Wave broadband.

I agree, I live in Rocklin and wave is the only shit out here and it’s literally 10x worse then anything I’ve ever had before. 0/10 would never recommend

I had Wave when I was living in West Sac. I had to restart the router literally at least once at day.

I just moved to house in Rocklin and the providers are at&t and wave. I decided to go with wave for more "bang for you buck". Did I make a poor decision?

Personally, I would have gone with AT&T.

Be sure to look at your data caps/usage. People these days can easily blow through 100GB a month.

I don't have any of these problems people are talking about in this thread, I went with the gigabit package at $100, unlimited data and get these results: http://www.speedtest.net/result/6896716055.png sometimes I can get it to actually show up as 900mb down.

Can verify this. Source : Unsatisfied Wave customer.

My in-laws have it. I've helped them change packages, get new equipment and have spent MANY hours at their home using their service. I have other relatives who are stuck with Wave too. I have yet to talk to one person who would rather have Wave over another provider.

The TV signal quality is often choppy at times. (a lot of signal drops) The bandwidth/GB data package is WAY overpriced. Price increases with no improved services/features.

I am getting modern features with Xfinity (X1,DVR,HD, web apps) for the same price as their Wave.

I am in a dead zone near Elk Grove, where only Comcast is available. The house across the street has ATT and Consolidated available to them. I want to rip my hair out.

The Mill at Broadway, I believe it's Greenfield Communications. HORRIBLE.

I remember at one point they were bragging out how they'd have community fiber and everyone would share the cost so it would be super cheap. Sucks to hear it didn't pan out. Do you mind sharing the cost, speed, and why it's terrible?

Greenfield communications was selected as the service provider. They are a subsidiary of AT&T, have very little in terms of customer service, and the cheapest package is $55 a month for 25mbs down. It scales up to about $100 a month for 100mps.

They also designed the networking infrastructure in the homes and provided the networking hardware. The choices made for placement and location of the parts was atrocious in many of the units. One can’t put a WiFi router with no external antenna inside of a metal box, in a closet, behind a stone-walled shower and expect to get good signal strength anywhere in the house.

Wow. What a disaster. I don't understand why they would use the bargaining power of hundreds of units of future customers and end up with a price higher than what Consolidated charges a single family house just up the street.

I believe the idea was that once enough of the units are constructed and a certain critical mass of users are in the system, the prices would be reduced. But that’s not going to be for years down the line.

Did they run actual data lines from that comm. cabinet to other parts of the house? If so, you should be able to put your router anywhere there is a data line. You may want to talk to a tech company and maybe have them come out and sort this out for you.

They provided a gateway/router/WiFi combo device. The solution I came up with was to use a wireless access point and connect it through the cat5 lines. I used a commercial one for a medium sized office, so now I can go on walks throughout the neighborhood and still maintain a connection.

Can’t move the gateway due to the fiber line coming in at the closet it was originally placed.

Once I invested in an AP, I had zero issues with the wireless. The problem is not every person in the community has the tech know-how to install and configure an AP.
