Rule 5 change: No more self-promotion

Pinned

Getting Over It is the "big stream game" right now, and as a result of this, many smaller people on Youtube are trying to capitalize on it. Unfortunately, this has grown to such an extent that the self-promotion here is starting to hurt the sub as a whole. As such, I've decided to completely disallow self-promotion. Allowing it has made the sub active, yeah, but it's also made it look off-putting. Why should people who would actually contribute do anything when they'll only get as much attention as yet another "THIS GAME MADE ME RAGE" video?

But what qualifies a video as self-promotion and will get it removed? If you made it yourself, that doesn't mean it's self-promotion. The real question is if its main purpose is to benefit you. Posts like [this [SPOILER]] (https://www.reddit.com/r/GettingOverItGame/comments/7l5lr9/world_record/), this, or this are posted by the person who made them, but they all benefit the community or are made to do so. They aren't there for the explicit purpose of getting the person posting them subscribers or similar benefits. However, that doesn't mean all videos you made are immediately self-promotion and will be removed. This post is a good example of a long video not being self-promotion, since a tutorial has a real place in the community. Clips / meme videos from your own videos/streams are also not allowed, but rule 2 works as usual otherwise. My goal with this sub is to strike a balance between actual discussion and some enjoyable shitposting / memes, and self-promotion doesn't really have a place there.

All self-promotion that was made before this change will be allowed to stay up, but any afterward will be removed. #TL;DR: No more self-promotion/meme videos/clips from yourself (except for things you made whose main intention isn't to benefit you).
