Foreign body sensation one week after cataract surgery
I'm 29 and had a cataract removed 9 days ago. I had minimal discomfort or pain after the surgery. I went back to see my surgeon for my second post op visit and she removed the suture in my eye. I came home and everything was fine until I laid down for bed. I started feeling like something was in my eye. I used a drop of Systane but that did not help much if any. I'm still on anti inflammatory drops and anti biotic drops and after using them it seemed to subside a while but now it has returned.
Is this normal or should I consult my doctor? I'm supposed to be going out of town today and I don't want to go if I'm going to have to come back early to see my doctor.
Can someone advise me on the best course of action?

Hey not a doctor but I did have cataract surgery a few months ago.
I had a similar sensation after but my doctor said it was completely normal. He also said it might take a while for that feeling to go away (for me it took about a month). He told me to use regular liquid tear eye drops when I needed it.
Your doctor may want to prescribe you a specific type of eye drop so I'd give them a call. But I doubt it's something they would need you to come in for.
Good luck!
Yeah you're right. I bit the bullet and took the trip. The feeling went away earlier today. Thanks for your reply friend.
