Mercy needs to be shit tier hero unless they rework her to require brains

I knew a girl who was in bronze for 3 seasons and her boyfriend played on her account and brought it up to plat. She broke up now and plays by herself. Still in plat after 1 full season.

Ok I'm subscribed to skyline so i watched it as soon as it came out.

From the perspective of a mercy one trick or mercy main. He is totally correct.

  1. The only character you know how to play sucks now. (compared to before)

  2. Because there are much less things you can do and manage as mercy now, the skill differentiation between a good mercy and bad mercy is going to be... less than before.

  3. Mercy is now even more boring to play. (Yes, just play other healers but it's still true that mercy is more boring than before)

However, I'm pretty sure everyone else will agree that this change is better for the game in general.

As for legitimate reasons to why this change is better in general. I (along with a lot of other pros who have also said so) believe mercy should be a niche healer, kind of like pharah, torb and reaper, ESPECIALLY at higher tiers.

I know this is an exaggerated example, but imagine of pharah's rockets were homing rockets, you could just fire into the general direction of enemies and they would get a direct hit. She would be picked every game at all tiers. There would also be bunch of people who only play pharah and be able to play nothing else (much like current mercy). Now blizzard one day got rid of the homing rockets for obvious reasons and now compared to old pharah, she seems VERY under powered. But that's because she's not the best option in every single game anymore, she's only good now when depending on the map and what the team comp is.

I will disagree with you that this change is better for the game in general because this isent actually a nerf to mercys baseline effectiveness. Thats why shes a must pick, shes a consistent (<-- this is the important word) solid healer unlike moira, lucio, zen and ana especially ana.

This is only going to make it less fun to play mercy and less fun to play against. When she valks shes not going to stay near the fight, shes going to lock onto someone and fly far far away and heal from there. Why would she be closer to the fight now that she cant res anyone safely? I certainly wouldent when i am playing her, now its safety first because thats all you can do.

If you want mercy not to be a must pick you gotta either nerf baseline healing staff by a lot. like i am sure you could take it down to 45hps instead of 60 and shed still be a must pick. because she would do it consistently. or we could just buff ana to be more consistent and let needles pierce shields.

These nerfs arent going to make anyone truely happy.

Mercy takes no skill, there wasn't any difference between a good and bad bad mercy pre rework, live and PTR.

The only "skill" that mercy requires is to don't die and keep teammates alive. Skill that all support require. That's it.
