Addiction is a hell of a thing. Even with the increase in the use of drug court and Governor Blarney saying it's a public health issue rather than a criminal justice issue, it seems that we're still focused on locking people up rather than getting them the help they need. Maybe there needs to be a legislation-based prioritization of opiates and opioids rather than some blanket "war on drugs" that incentivizes busting pot users just so local cops can take their property?
Just a thought.

For real. If you’re caught with an ounce of weed, you lose the weed and get a ticket for a little over $100 dollars. It’s a civil violation; the equivalent of a seatbelt or jay walking ticket.

I see at least 5 people that look similar to her walking like zombies along route 40 every morning during my commute to work. The opioid epidemic is bad out here in NCC.
