Watching the show on prime for the first time
And after 2 seasons I am so sad that I never watched this series over years instead of weeks. I always avoided it because the first time I heard of it I didn't know it was funny, I thought it was the just like the mentalist which was on TV at the time and I hated that show.

Psych is self-aware that it is seen that way. Keep watching and you'll see them even joke about it. It's not hard to have that assumption without watching it. I didn't start watching till season 5 or 6. Then again, I was 14. I didn't exactly fall in love with the show till later. I knew I liked it. I even created a character inspired by Shawn. But, I didn't know I loved it till now. It's kind of like my first real girlfriend in that way, and how she too, isn't real.
I solve a crime like once a week, and sometimes right around Christmas.
recently saw an episode where they mentioned the crime a week and I said to my mom "hah get it, cause it was on once a week"
glad i caught that lol
The thing I really love is they don't take themselves too seriously but also don't make a mockery out of it. What I mean is they recognize that there are plenty of times Shawn passing as a psychic makes no sense but don't take it to the point where every thing about the show is a joke and there's no depth to any thing.
I think it’s because they started out directly behind Monk as it was getting darker and more depressing (because he was getting closer to his wife’s killer), so they had to be a little more lighthearted. Kind of like the r/eyebleach of the USA network.
Exactly. If anyone says this show has no depth they obviously haven't seen the first Yang episode and how Shawn changes after it. The first episode of season 4 he's still silly trying to catch the art thief, but he becomes almost obsessed with it. Mainly, it's that scene where he finds out spoiler I always cry during that scene.
