I like it! I've thought similarly in the past, but never put it into words. Same with accents. Or even colors really.

You are exactly right!! I am glad you saw the language slip! I don't know what I was thinking. I will have to fix that and find a Japanese phrase. I do see what you are saying about how these ideas need to be expanded upon into a more sculpted form of  poetic word play rather than just idle musings. Thank you so much!

"ni hao" is chinese. 

This sounds like an idea for a poem arranged poetically, but not like an actual poem. The way to do this would be to use word- and sound-play, perhaps in multiple languages, to snap the reader's attention to the ways sounds sound and the sound means. 

I absolutely LOVE Shel Silverstein. He is my favorite poet. I have all of his books. I think I do subconsciously write some of my pieces in his style because his poetry is stuck in my head. Thank you. This is the best compliment to me.

I enjoyed this poem.  The rhythm, tone, and rhyme scheme remind me a bit of Shel Silverstein's work; the topic is whimsical.

Have you ever wondered  
How our brains have found  
A way to put meaning  
To various sounds?  


Why does “jaa ne” mean one thing in Japan,  
Yet something different,  
Or nothing,  
In Iran?  


And how do you know  
What I say without sound,  
Just by looking at these squiggles
