So there is an apple store near me in a shopping centre. I've read that airpods are quite easy to get and security is fairly lax in an apple store so the plan would be to grab a couple of cases of airpods and look around for a bit. When the coast is clear to leave, I will simply leave, and when the coast is clear to conceal, I will conceal. Anyone got any other suggestions?

I suggest not taking more than one box of those as that looks suspicious. If you want more than one, I think you should go in multiple times. Also, go in when it's the busiest.

you'll probably want to come in on a saturday afternoon. try to book an appointment online and find a time when a lot of slots are taken up, thats when it's busiest. hang out at a computer and keep an eye on the person watching accessories (usually one per wall) and when they're talking to someone (turned away from the airpods) thats when you grab. hold your phone up to it as you're grabbing it and say "i used the apple store app" as plausible deniability if someone asks if you paid for it. hell, download and set up the app on your phone just in case. if its open while you're grabbing it off the wall it looks like you've bought it with the app.
used to work at the genius bar. our store had very little security when it came to stuff on the walls. shit went missing all the time and it wasnt seen as a huge deal
Get a older person to TRIP and knock over some high end stuff everyone will rush to them and pick up the iphones on the floor to put on the shelves and then pocket as many as you want then go over and help them up and leave or organise a flash mob
