How to "Turn On" Lock On in Combat

Discussion

So, if you're like me, the biggest struggle I found playing this game has been the lack of lock on in melee combat. Especially as an SnS main. Close range combat, for me at least, wound up with a lot of missed damage from my character wildly swinging and missing the monster because they were looking in a different direction. And the camera lock on seemed to only reorient the camera to the monster and put a reticle on them rather than actually locking on my character's attacks, like I'd hoped. Overall, it really started to make me like the game less and got me frustrated enough to look in to the camera settings. I'm happy to say, I solved the issue.

Here's how ya do it:

  1. Go to "Options" in the "Settings" tab (on the far right of the menu)

  2. Select "Camera."

  3. Under "Reticle Direction," select "Character's Direction."

  4. D pad to the right once to get to the next page of options

  5. Under "Camera Reset Settings," select "Direction of Character"

  6. Optional. In case you find your camera not focused on your character's back, under "Target Camera Controls," select "Type 2." Now pressing RB/R1 once will reorient the camera.

Sidenote: I also found changing the "Camera Speed" to "Fast" helped in combat as well. Purely preference though.

And that'll do it. This was the lock on I was looking for and I land like 60% more of my hits. The game is SO much more fun now! Keep in mind, your range limitations based on your weapon of choice still exist, and you will still swing at the air occassionally, as being mid combo while the monster moves does still result in this, but it is a vast improvement. Hope this helps guys!
