I never notice that since I only memorize DD HP values.
But something I do notice is when I am nervously capping in my Groz or Benson, hoping that the enemy Yugumo is a TRB Yugumo, or that if he's a Smoke Yugumo he chooses a different cap...and he pops up at 6.8km
I'm curious, why bother memorizing them intentionally? Waht value does it give yhou to know they have SE?
I don't intentionally memorize them, it's just I've been in so many destroyer duels that it comes naturally. It does however let me know who I should prioritize during a multi-DD duel, among other things
Also, the lack of SE in a DD says a lot about his approach to a fight. People without SE in DDs tend to either avoid fights, or fight from further out. There are exceptions of course, but overall it holds true.
This is important information regarding both enemies and friendlies.
This exactly. For example a HSF Harekaze who is gunboating with 13300hp...is undoubtedly a moron.
I consider every T8+ DD captain without SE to be a clueless jerk unwilling to help the team.
Usually it is correct, to a very satisfactory accuracy margin. (very few false positives)
Sadly, the presence of SE does not prove the opposite by a sufficient margin...
:p
SE on a BB:
We have been informed by now, I thought, that SE in fact, does NOT stack with self-heals.
So..
yaaay 3.500 HP!
Extra HP works vs all the fire dmg I take, this must be the best skill!
It actually stacks. At least on my Tashkent.
Don't mistake the UI tooltip for it;
you'd have to verify it in a training room or something.
IIRC, last time someone did, the conclusion was self-heal did not, in fact, benefit from SE.
The amount of times i got killed by the will to help the team compared to the amount of times i got killed without SE or would have gotten killed if i didn't have SE makes me laugh at your words.
Sometimes even players that actually committed to the help they got got killed or hurt as well, like CV that helps out with AS over a cap that has to fight under enemy cruiser AA while my cruisers didn't bother to move closer than their max range to the enemy, despite having a smoke laid down for that and knowing all the important enemy ships positions.
Sure if i can spot someone cooperating i can work with i usually commit, but i stopped caring about randoms if i don't see their intention outright and focused on my impact on the game where i don't risk my hp on the help of teammates.
Sure there are ships where lack of SE is obvious :))))))) like lol yang, but with the yuugumo i went for TAE first without a second of doubt (fresh 10 pointer, not carried over). Not even once has it stopped me from gunning down enemy gunboats, torpedoing other dds and getting out of it alive. And while i did pick SE immediately after i could i would never switch them around.
It looks like you wrote a lowercase I instead of an uppercase I. This has happened 2920 times on Reddit since the launch of this bot.
Best I saw was two SE Kurfursts in the red team, maybe two weeks back. Except different health pools, one was retraining. :D
something something something tier = skill right?
right....?
Don't blame the players, blame WG.
SE whould simply either buffed or do nothing for BBs (with a giant tool tip saying so).
IFHE is even worse - I remember reading that IFHE was the 2nd most selceted skill on tier X BB captains... Again, WG REMOVE IFHE and give the pen bonus to HE the selected few ships that need it.
I now it's an arcade game, but should all thought be removed from it because of that? People can get an advantage by learning to shoot properly, but also by thinking about what a good captain build might be, trying different ones to see what works or by watching videos or reading forum posts of other people for tips on how to play...or they can just slap whatever on their ships and press battle. In the latter case, SE on a battleship serves several functions. To teammates, a clear signal not to rely on this guy for anything. And to the enemy, to easily identify a soft target who probably doesn't know about angling either, and who will almost certainly use his damage control after being set on fire once.
but should all thought be removed from it because of that?
This is not a question of "thought". Game systems should NEVER include choices that are traps and it should ideally also never include choices that are pure must haves.
As such CE, IFHE and SE are bad.
Survivability Expert didn't save that Baltimore evidently, needs more HP.
Holy shit i never seen this on one screen when i was making my compilation
Is Survivability Expert even a worth pick at all for all ship types?
Its worthwhile for DDs (because of their low healthpool) and can be a legitimate pick for certain cruisers (such as the Minotaur which also has a relatively small health pool).
Definitely not worth it on minotaur. It may have a small health pool but its effective HP is very large because of its repairs. (repairs do not scale up with SE).
I use SE at T10. Laughs in Khaba
Then one of them starts to argue: Oh but because repair party heals a % of your health and not a fixed amount you can heal more with SE!
Eh, I have SE on my minotaur because Dunkirk is my Gallant captain. And I have ifhe and de on my Fiji because it's my Belfast captain.
On a yamato though....youre not going to be dual speccing for your harekaze or shinonome right.....right guys?
We really need Clippy (from old MS Word) standing on the screen when players are selecting captain skills.
"Looks like you are trying to put SE on a battleship. Did you know that it will give you less than one full BB AP penetration's worth of HP?"
"IFHE might not be the best pick on 203mm guns, as it doesn't help you pass many important armor thresholds."
"DE will increase your fire chance per shell from 46% to 48%. Maybe consider a different captain skill."
WG doesn’t want to do that... then the players won’t spend gold for skill resets.
these players wont either
Just tell them after they spec it
WG: come to our HQ tomorrow.
Clippy mock up for WG
"You will live one shell longer"
I'll bet you that most of the people that take SE will pick it, not in spite of that, but because of that, thinking: "Oh, that means I live another salvo." Regardless of that being the wrong conclusion of the sentence (we all know that they need to be at <3500 HP and not dead for it to ever have an impact, and mostly will not increase the life by another salvo).
Quality.
Give it a skipper's hat and its perfect.
Or maybe use Yuro's John Cena clip from his teamplay Des Moines video:P
Pretty sure that was the
MissouriTRUMP WAGON videoNah it's on the DM one when he's assigning all the captain points and John Cena keeps coming out saying "are you sure about that?"
Oh for some reason I thought you meant the bit about backing up in big mo and disappearing, accompanied with "you can't see me."
Make it the fish from WG's animated videos!!!
2 - SE doesn't increase the amount you heal, as was found out by LWM during her Kidd review.
3 - It's still probably not worth a 4-point skill investment, particularly on SEA server where carriers are more common. It opens up a few more things you can penetrate with HE, but Henri/Hindenburg are happy enough to farm fires and take the bit of damage from shells landing on bow/stern/superstructure.
Uh, SEA probably has the most CVs compared to NA and EU. Probably not heavily populated but in general CV players on SEA are better than those on NA and EU.
I still use DE on a few CLs. Don't know why, maybe just force of habit. Flags alone can do 1%. Am I stupid or just thick, who knows. Hopefully we get respecs for clan wars.
CLs are generally worth taking DE on since you’ll also be taking IFHE.
DE is good for high rate of fire guns, as it's a flat increase. Most CLs and some CAs benefit from it.
Because that's an increase from around 10 to 12%, a 20% increase in fire chance. In a battleship the increase is way, way lower.
I have demo expert and IFHE on my Fiji by virtue of it being my Belfast captain.
With AFT you start lots of fires when people rush your smoke. It's certainly a waste of a skill but i don't have a choice really.
The value of DE is a direct function of RPM and CLs tend to have better RPM than CAs.
The SE hate train is pretty dumb. It's ~3% more hp, and that means 3% more chance to live. Same as all the other incremental skills, it's great for BBs. Maybe take it after secondary/air tier 3, but it's still decent.
