I'm surprised that no one has submitted the books by Lilian Jackson Braun. While the last few are of lower quality, I found most of them quite readable.
Her readers have come to appreciate James Mackintosh Qwilleran's efforts in detection, aided by Kao K'o-Kung (Koko for short) and Yum Yum.
Back when I was reading those cat books, I stumbled across some other cat associated murder mysteries, but I've forgotten most of the context. All I remember was that one of them involved a movie production company which came out to a small town in AZ (?) expecting to make the movie cheaply. The town took extensive advantage of them, with fees up the yin-yang.

It's just that cats are particularly pervasive in fiction. ;) Good choice.

I don't recognize that one, but it sounds interesting. I will ask my mystery readers group if they know it. Thanks!
