Can someone help me find this address? [J.P. Nagar]

All I have of an old friend is this address. His family moved out of Mumbai like 15 years ago, we used to be best friends. He gave me this on a dusty scrap of paper, telling me to look him up when we've grown up. I only knew his nickname, so no luck on facebook.

I just moved to bangalore and I would love to see if he's still there, I did yesterday but I just cannot understand this address, nor do I seem to be able to find it by walking around JP Nagar. Yes, I've fuzzed up the numbers a bit.

No. 41/3, J.P Nagar Phase 1, Bangalore - 560078

Is it 3rd cross road or 41st cross road? There are both. And I didn't see any houses numbered 41 or 3 in either 41st or 3rd cross road (I think). Anybody know the area? Know a landmark nearby?

41/3 will be the house number. Usually when there are multiple houses in a single plot, they will have numbers like this. But the cross/main details are missing, which makes it difficult.
You could try a BSNL address search? Since they moved 15+ years back, they might still have an active BSNL connection.

OP, trying to help here so don't mind a few of the questions!

Your best bet is to try online itself. I've found quite a few old friends this way. He WILL have some connections. Surely you'd know his first name and what school he went to at least, for starters.

I hope this isn't a serial killer looking for targets :)

No, we just played together in the park when we were like 7-8. But we became good friends and he left after two weeks. I'm 24 now :)

I know his nickname "chintu".

This format of address is unfamiliar to me. The only format I know is

House No. X,

Yth Cross, Zth Main

Where X, Y, Z are the house number, cross number and main number respectively. Sometimes only one of cross or main is available. In that case you need a landmark because there can be multiple crosses and mains with the same number in one area.

Even if your guess is correct and the 3 stands for 3rd cross, there are multiple 3rd crosses in JP Nagar 1st phase (as you can see for yourself on google maps). So the info you have isn't simply enough to find out your friend's place.

Also, if he rented, then chances are he have moved to a different location. People tend to not rent for 15 years at the same apartment.

That's the house number. My house number is 167/84 for example.
